Women in the Body of Christ

Here's another perspective

At the time God created all things He gave such a profound statement, the narrative is seen in Genesis 1:32 “And God saw everything that He had made, and, behold, it was very good. . .” Did you notice that it says ‘very’ good? This is the fundamental importance of creation. All He made, working together in harmony is very good. Since this is ‘very’ good, how can a woman not be good enough to preach the message of the gospel simply because she is a woman?

There is no doubt that women are limited in some churches around the world and this ought not to be. Some churches are very firm on disallowing women from having any form of preaching opportunity, limiting their possibility to bring teachings, edifications, and warnings to the body of Christ. A woman was created in the image of God. And because God has chosen to use mankind to evangelize the world, a woman should not be disqualified from teaching, preaching, encouraging, and admonishing the body of Christ and the unsaved world.

One fascinating record in the bible that shows how important women are is seen in the story of Moses. Moses is by far one of the most revered people in the world today by Christians. The work he did through God Almighty can never be underrated. However, before he ever got to be the great man of God, he needed at least four women to help him become the man of God that he became. Let’s have a look at the multiple occasions where women delivered Moses from death. The record of Moses’s life as seen in the Book of Exodus was a life that started with the threat of death. Pharaoh at that time ordered Hebrew boys to be killed, but Moses’s mother defiled the king’s orders and preserved her son alive, but she could not do it on her own. God gave her the wisdom of putting the child in a waterproof basket to float on the Nile River. The daughter of Pharaoh came and Moses’s sister encouraged the princess to keep Moses by offering her a nurse to take care of Moses. At this point, Moses’s life was spared from death by three women. Soon after Moses ran away from Egypt and was sent back to Egypt to rescue the Israelites, on his way, God met him and wanted to kill him because Moses had omitted to circumcise his son. Miraculously, the person who came to his rescue was his wife Zipporah, she circumcised the boy and God spared Moses’s life. In total, four women assisted Moses to become the great man of God as we know him today.

Women are not the doom of the church; pride, the lust of the eyes, and the lust of the flesh are what can doom believers, this is why God warns us to submit to Him and to be sober, and to live by the Spirit of God (James 4:7, 1 Peter 5:8 and Galatians 5:16). Paul also mentioned that in Christ, there is neither Jew nor Greek, bond or free, male or female for we are all one in Christ (Galatians 3:28). Let there be no separation between men and women, for God uses anyone He wants to preach His message, even as Aquila together with his wife, Priscilla, explained the gospel to Apollos (read Acts 18:24-26).

Go ahead and give women the opportunity to be a blessing to the body of Christ, don’t “kick against the pricks” in your ministry by limiting people simply because they are female.
The LORD bless you as you walk in obedience to Him.

Amen.
